Mildred E. McClure

Mildred Ellen McClure, daughter of Allen and Lilliam Salters Davis, was born July 2, 1909 in Davis County, Iowa and departed this life Sunday afternoon Feb. 17, 1985 at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa at the age of 75.

She graduated from Douds High School and attended Parsons College; she taught school four years in Davis County. On June 3, 1931, she was united in marriage to Van McClure at Hedrick, Iowa. They farmed and operated a trucking business. She was a member of the Eldon Christian Church.

Remaining are her husband, Van; three sons, Norlan and his wife Shirley of Keosauqua, Dean of Dubuque, Iowa, and Lowell and his wife, Jewell of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Jerry, Gary, Debbie and Doug McClure and Jorge Zafrain of Panama; one great-grandson, Nicholas; one brother, Ellery Davis and his wife, Freda of Agency, Iowa, other relatives and friends. Her parents preceded her in death.

She will be remembered as a person devoted to her family, her community, and her church.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 1985 in the Eldon Christian Church with Rev. Dan Mast officiating. Interment was in Leando Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, Iowa. A memorial for the American Diabetes Association.
