Herschel E. (Pete) Cox

KEOSAUQUA - Herschel E. (Pete) Cox, 91, Keosauqua, died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center.

He was born April 22, 1893, at Warsaw, Ill., to James and Mattie Beatty Cox. His parents died when he was young and he was reared by paternal grandparents and aunts at Keosauqua. He married Vera L. Wolf on Oct. 24, 1925, at Bloomfield; she died in 1981.

Mrs. Cox was a long-time employee of the Van Buren County highway department. He retired in 1966, after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church.

Surviving: A daughter, Evelyn Cox, Keosauqua.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Pedrick Funeral Home, the Rev. Bob Paterson; Fellows Cemetery. A memorial has been established for a Good Samaritan Center.
