George Emmett Klise, Sr.

George Emmett Klise, Sr., son of Grant and Mary Frances Stevens Klise, was born April 27, 1912 in Van Buren County, Iowa and died Jan. 31, 1985 at Fort Myers Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla., at the age of 72. He had been in failing health the past few years and was stricken while spending the winter in Florida.

On May 5, 1934, he married Birdena Morris in Kahoka, Mo. They farmed in the Stockport community, owning an Iowa Century Family Farm. Emmett Was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church, Workman Lodge No. 634, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, the Stockport Lions Club and the Southeast Iowa Quarter Horse Association.

Remaining are his wife, Birdena, a son, G.E. "Bud" Klise, Jr. and his wife Marilyn, a daughter Peggy Klise Peck and her husband, harley, all of Stockport and his step-mother, Mamie Klise of Hayward, Calif. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Penny Klise DePenning and her husband Herb of Stockport, Kristy Klise of Clarendon Hills, Ill., Robin Peck Boley and her husband Keith of Keosauqua and Rodney Peck and his wife Sherry of Stockport, along with five great grandchildren, Jay K. DePenning, Justin and Jennifer Boley, Dana and Jennifer Boley, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Emmett in death were his parents, a brother, Jim, a sister Blanche Klise Lawson and a niece.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 3, 1985 at 2 p.m. at the Stockport United Methodist Church, with Rev. Duane Olsen and Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Masonic services were held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. Interment was in Dibble Cemetery south of Stockport. Memorials were established for the Stockport United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society and the Iowa Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation.

STOCKPORT - George Emmett Klise Sr., 72, Stockport, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in a hospital in Ft. Myers, Fla.

He was born in Van Buren County April 27, 1912 to Grant and Mary Frances Stevens Klise. He married Birdena Morris in Kahoka, Mo., May 5, 1934.

Mr. Klise was owner-operator of an Iowa Century Farm. He was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Lions Club, and Southeast Iowa Quarter-Horse Association.

Surviving: His wife; a son, G.E. (Bud) Klise Jr., and a daughter, Peggy Klise Peck, both of Stockport; his stepmother Mamie Klise, Hayward, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The body will arrive late tonight at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stockport United Methodist Church, the Rev. Duane Olsen and the Rev. David Kennedy; Dibble Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Stockport United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, and Iowa Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation.
