Tom W. Vineyard

Tom W. Vineyard, of Dixon, formerly of Van Buren County, was born on March 4, 1893, near Dixon, in Maries County, son of Dave and Jean Ann Byrd Vineyard, and died at 10:45 a.m., on Tuesday morning, Nov. 6, 1984, at the Heritage Park Nursing Home, Rolla, where he had been a resident for only a few weeks. Due to failing health, Mr. and Mrs. Vineyard moved from Dixon to the Shreiners Boarding Home, Rolla, where they have lived for the past several years. Mr. Vineyard had attained the age of 91 years, eight months and two days.

Mr. Vineyard was first united in marriage on Dec. 22, 1915, at Keokuk, to the former Miss Lila Wallace, and to this union, three sons were born. Mrs. Vineyard preceded her husband in death on April 6, 1960. Mr. Vineyard was later united in marriage on Nov. 16, 1963, at Dixon, to the former Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Baker Davis. In addition to his wife, Mr. Vineyard was preceded in death by two sons, Lewis vineyard and Glen Vineyard; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Vineyard, nine brothers , and two sisters.

Prior to his retirement in 1960, Mr. Vineyard had been a farmer in Van Buren County, for 52 years, he was a former member of the Bonaparte Lodge Number 22 in Iowa.

Those remaining include: his wife, Mrs. Martha Vineyard of Rolla, one son, Evert Vineyard of Burlington, six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m., on Friday morning, Nov. 9, 1984, in Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Harold Withers officiating. "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" were sung for the funeral service.

Graveside services and interment were held at 10 a.m., on Saturday morning, Nov. 10, 1984, in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton, with Mr. Frank Tortat officiating. All arrangements were under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon, Mo.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association and envelopes may be obtained at the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home office in Dixon.
