DEATH CAME RATHER SUDDENLY AT 1 O'CLOCK THIS AFTERNOON

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Ward, wife of the late G. F. M. Ward, passed away at 1 o'clock this afternoon at her home at the corner of Maple and Ninth avenue.

Mrs. Ward has been ill for some time, but her health failed rapidly after the death of her husband, which occurred November 16, 1926. Her death, however, came rather suddenly her condition growing worse towards noon today.

Before her marriage to Mr. Ward on June 2, 1880, Mrs. Ward was Miss Sarah Elizabeth Pope, and resided in DuQuoin. Immediately after the marriage, she came to Mt. Vernon and has since resided here.

She is survived by three children, Dr. Todd P. Ward, Henry Ben Ward and Mrs. Leota Pope Ham.

Funeral arrangements will be made later and announced tomorrow.

Mrs. Ward was well known and highly esteemed throughout this city. Her husband was a leading business man of Mt. Vernon for many years, remaining actively connected with his firm, The Mammoth Clothing Company, until a few months before his death in November.
