CLAIR TAYLOR

Clair A. Taylor, 91, Ames, died Sunday, July 29, 1984 at North Grand Care Center. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 1984 at the Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. John K. Moore, First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Mr. Taylor was born January 31, 1893, to William A. and Ida (Treace) Taylor on the family farm in Story County. He graduated from Ames High School and attended Iowa State. On October 7, 1920, he was married to Naomi Cattell. He farmed and was in the grocery and produce business. He spent most of his lifetime in the Ames area but lived in Des Moines from 194-41 and in Bonaparte for four years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Herbert A. Taylor of R.R. 2 and John W. Taylor of Omaha, Nebraska; four daughters, Alzada Riggs of Fort Worth, Texas, Mary Meek of Bonaparte, Ruth Roederer of Mount Pleasant, and Margaret Hofmann of Eureka, California; a sister, Hazel Stewart of Petaluma, California; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi on July 11, 1979.

A memorial fund has been established for Alzheimer's research.
