HAROLD W. ELSE

Harold W. Else, son of John and Ada Caruthers Else, was born November 30, 1902 in Van Buren County near Douds and departed this life the evening of Saturday, August 4, 1984 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua at the age of 81.

On December 24, 1925 he married Marion Jamison at Milton. They farmed in the Lebanon and Cantril communities and for many years near Stockport. They retired to Stockport in 1974 and moved to Country Lane Apartments in Keosauqua in 1983.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Eleanor Barr, Milan, Illinois, Carolyn Cloke, Burlington, and Mary Stonebraker, Hemet, California; a son, Ralph, Grand Prairie, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Letha Schreckengast, Cedar Rapids. Fifteen brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Harold was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church, Workman Lodge No. 634, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Stockport and had been a member of the Stockport Lions Club.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 7, 1984 at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Rev. David Kennedy officiating. A vesper service was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday with Rev. Gerald Caughron in charge. Interment was in Pittsburg Cemetery with Masonic rites by Workman Lodge. A memorial was established for the cemetery and gifts may be left at the funeral home.
