Wiley Pollock

Wiley Pollock of Wayland, Mo., passed away Nov. 30, 1984, at the age of 74, at Scotland County Nursing Home, Memphis, Mo.

Mr. Pollock was born and raised near the Fox City community, July 29, 1910. He was the son of Asberry (Berry) and Carrie Mae (Miller) Pollock. He was very young when his father passed away, but he and his mother continued living on the family farm.

Wiley was just 15 when his mother died in 1924, but he and his uncle lived on the farm several years longer.

He went to work for the Sante Fe awhile but returned to Wayland where he owned and operated the Conoco Service station and Rock Shop for quite some time. Once he had to move the station for highway 136 for improvements.

Wiley attended church and Sunday School in the Fox City neighborhood, and was a member of the Grace Chapel Methodist Church there. He attended Pleasant View School also in that neighborhood.

He was married to Eva Bennett, who preceded him in death.

He was then married to Opal Robertson on March 1, 1954, who passed away March 13, 1978.

Surviving are three stepchildren, 13 step grandchildren and many friends.

Services were held Dec. 3, 1984 at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
