ROBERT DAGGS

Robert S. Daggs, 61, of rural Cantril died unexpectedly about 6:15 p.m. Monday, June 18 in his pickup truck at his farm two miles southeast of Cantril. He had just returned from fieldwork.

Death was attributed to stroke by Dr. J.T. Worrell, Van Buren County Medical Examiner.

The son of Leslie V. and Grace Seawright Daggs, he was born August 13, 1922 on the family farm where he lived.

On October 12, 1947, he married Nancy Beeler at her parents home north of Cantril. She died in 1970.

Survivors include a sister, Elma Gerdes and her husband Paul of Burlington; a niece Mrs. Russell Wilson, West Palm Beach, Florida; two nephews, Dr. John L. Gerdes, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and Charles S. Gerdes of Honolulu, Hawaii; a great niece and a great nephew.

He spent his life farming and dealing in livestock.

He was a member of the Cantril United Methodist Church, Apollo Lodge AF & AM, Cantril Chapter OES and the Cantril Lions Club.

Services will be held Thursday, June 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cantril United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Butler and Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril.

Memorials to his church may be left at the Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
