Charley L. Parish

Charley L. Parish, son of Roswell and Artinsie Parsons Parish, was born April 28, 1911 on the same farm where he lived his entire life, between Mt. Sterling, Iowa and Arbela, Mo. in Clark County, Mo.

He died the evening of Tuesday, March 20, 1984, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua, at the age of 72. He had suffered a heart attack at his home.

On January 26, 1932 he married Doris Kennedy at Kahoka, Mo. She remains with their daughter Dorothy Aylor of Keosauqua and their two sons, Don of Mt. Vernon and Danny of Arbela.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Captain Steve Aylor, Teresa Aylor, Stephanie Parish and Deanna Parish, two sisters, Grace Adams of Bloomfield and Lucy Chamberlain, Keosauqua, other relatives and friends.

A son, Darrell, and seven brothers preceded him in death.

In addition to farming, Charley worked a number of years for the Clark County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 23, 1984 at 1 p.m. in the Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Butler, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Harness Cemetery near Mt. Sterling, Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, was in charge of arrangements.
