Edna C. Ponte

FARMINGTON - Edna C. Ponte, 77, of Farmington died Friday, Nov. 16 at 2:50 a.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua.

Born April 5, 1907 in Van Buren County, Iowa, she was a daughter of Elliott and Edith Wollenweber Marshall.

She married Gilbert Specht on May 6, 1927. He preceded her in death. She married Edward L. Ponte on Feb. 14, 1948 and he also preceded her in death.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Farmington, was a past matron of Mizpah Chapter No. 24 OES,, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Farmington Cemetery Association.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Veach (Ruth) Harmon, Farmington, and Betty Specht of Yuma, Ariz.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Wellman of West Point; a brother, Ernest Marshall of Farmington; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one brother, one sister, one step-son, and one step-daughter.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Monday in the United Methodist Church, Farmington. Burial was in Greenglade Cemetery. The Rev. James Rozendaal officiated.
