Austin E. Perkins

Austin E. Perkins, son of George and Isabelle Warner Perkins, was born Sept. 9, 1888 near Bloomfield and died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 1984 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua at the age of 95.

On Dec. 4, 1911 he married Jennie Blackburn. They spent their active married life farming in the Center Chapel community south of Keosauqua until retiring to town. They have resided at the Good Samaritan Cener(err) the past five years.

Remaining are his wife, a son Verdon and his wife Wilma of Cantril, two daughters, Dolores Lee and her husband Orville and Betty Mitchell and her husband Jack, all of Keosauqua. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lester, and one sister, Emma Rehkopf.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 3, 1984 at 10:30 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Interment was in Center Chapel Cemetery south of Keosauqua. A memorial was established for the Center Chapel United Methodist Church.
