Nellie Baird Caylor

Nellie Marie Baird Caylor, a Udell, Iowa resident for 54 years, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 1984, in the St. Joseph's Hospital in Centerville, shortly after being admitted.

She was born on Dec. 18, 1897, at Douds, the daughter of Seth and Hettie Hunter Baird. She graduated from Normal College at Fairfield and had taught in the Douds - Leando and Udell schools prior to her marriage to D. Wayne Caylor at Nashua, Iowa, on June 1, 1930. He passed away on Dec. 30, 1980. They had farmed three miles south of Unionville, Iowa during their marriage. She was an active longtime member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren, having done much work with the church youth groups.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Vincent Baird.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Anita Ann) Dutton of rural Udell, a sister, Gladys Webb of Centerville, and two grandsons, Francis Wayne Dutton and Bradley C. Dutton.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. at the Fairview Church of the Brethren with pastors Harley Yates and Bob Sifrit officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery. A memorial in her name was established to her church.

The Miller - Wehrle Funeral Home in Centerville was in charge of the arrangements.
