Vera M. Gardner
Vera M. Gardner, daughter of Otto and Anna Ryan Hartman, was born Oct. 12, 1896 in Clearfield, Iowa and died Sunday, Oct. 30, 1983 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua at the age of 87.
She grew up in Fairfield, and married Neal Foglesong who died in 1935. She later married Ray Gardner who also preceded her in death.
She was a stenographer in Fairfield and Cedar Rapids, and retired to Keosauqua in 1958. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington. Remaining are two daughters, Donna Smutz of Keosauqua and Madge Young, Cedar Rapids, a son, Bill Foglesong of Agoura, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Don Hartman of Fairfield and Vernon of Hartman of Des Moines, other relatives and friends. Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 2, 1983 at 1:30 p.m. in Saint Boniface Church, Farmington, with Rev. Ronald Young celebrating the Mass. The Rosary service was held Tuesday evening at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua.
