Robert H. Regur

Robert Hal Regur, son of Hal C. and Della M. Norris Regur, was born May 5, 1912 at Keosauqua and died early Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1983, at his home southeast of Keosauqua at the age of 71.

Bob graduated from high school in Des Moines.

On Sept. 15, 1951 he married Catherine Mackowski at Temple, Missouri. She remains as do two daughters, Shirley Smith and her husband Charles of Elko, Nevada and Helen Huss and her husband Servais of Murphys, Calif., and two sons, Robert and his wife Dorothy of Chowchilla, California and Captain James and his wife Sharon of Grimes, Iowa. Also surviving are grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Bob was a long-time employee of Watson Transportation Co. and later was a correctional officer at the Iowa State Penetentiary, from which he retired in 1978. He had served as Keosauqua Town Marshall and was presently operating the senior citizens' bus in Van Buren and Jefferson counties.

He was a member of the Keosauqua Christian Church, served with the U.S. Army mechanized infantry during World War II, and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1927 in Fairfield.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a good citizen and friend.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 28, 1983 at 2 p.m. in the Keosauqua Christian Church with Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua. A memorial was established for the Keosauqua Senior Citizen Center. Contributions may be left at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
