Elmer V. Walter, 82, of Harlingen, Texas since 1961 died at his home Tuesday, October 18, 1983.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mont Meta Memorial Park with the Reverend Harold Goodenough officiating.
He was born at Vernon, Iowa on February 13, 1891. He was a graduate of Iowa State College and was an associate with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a research entomologist for 46 years. He published numerous papers of his work with sweet corn.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Harlingen.
He is survived by a son, Vernon E. Walter of McAllen, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Roberta Clevenger of Ferguson, Missouri and Mrs. Mary Lou Minn of Knoxville, Illinois also two sisters, Mrs. Nellie McCracken of rural Keosauqua and Lucy Meyer of Bonaparte.
