Robert C. Strah

Robert Charles Strah, son of Charles and Hazel Gordon Stah, was born July 22, 1927 near Mount Sterling and died early Monday, August 1, 1983, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 56.

On May 11, 1945 he married Mildred Brownlee at Fairfield and they made their home in Keosauqua. She remains with their daughter, Elizabeth of Keosauqua and three sons, Ray and his wife Sue of Potosi, Mo., Ron and his wife Patricia of Huxley, Jerry and his wife Donna of San Jose, California, and Duane and his wife Carol of Nevada. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Bob was a farmer and carpenter until ill health forced him to retire. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Keosauqua Lodge No. 10, Ancient and Accepted Masons.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father who made the best of each situation in life including his lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 4, 1983 at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in Center Chapel Cemetery south of Keosauqua. Masonic rites were held at the funeral home Wednesday, August 3 at 7:30 p.m.
