Charlie Witt

Charlie Witt, son of Charles W. and Sarah Zachau Witt, was born Feb. 3, 1903, southeast of Keosauqua and died the evening of Thursday Oct. 27, 1983 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 80.

On Feb. 28, 1935 he married Mildred Wooten at Keosauqua. They have life on the same farm south of Douds, near Lebanon.

Remaining are his wife, a son Robert and his wife Norma Jane of Selma, a daughter, Mary Harwood of Ottumwa and three grandchildren, Marla Witt, Shelley Moyer and her husband Joe, and Roy Harwood and his wife Melissa. Also surviving are two brothers, George of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Clarence of Keosauqua, a sister, Della Forbes of Bonaparte, other relatives and friends.

Three brothers, three sisters, and an infant granddaughter preceded him in death.

Charlies was a long time member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church, and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 29, 1983 at 2 p.m. in the Lebanon United Methodist Church, with Dr. Chris Daniel, pastor officiating. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery at Keosauqua. A memorial established for the church. Contributions may be left at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds.
