HERMAN DALE SMITH

Herman Dale Smith, 49, of Argyle, died Monday, April 18, 1983 at 10:30 p.m. at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

Born January 30, 1934 in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of William Harvey Smith and Myrtle Rice Smith of Farmington and she survives.

He married Joan Eastin, September 24, 1952 in Farmington. She preceded him in death. He later married Edna Poole, November 26, 1966 in Keokuk.

He lived in the Farmington and Keokuk communities all his life.

He was an electrician. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Farmington. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict.

Surviving are his wife Edna; six sons, Bill of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Roger of Farmington, Brad, Chad, Charlie and John, all of Bonaparte; one daughter, Linda Damico of Edgewood, Maryland; four step-sons, Ronnie Poole of California, Donnie and Larry Poole of Farmington, Bobby Poole of Texas; one step-daughter, Virginia Poole of Farmington; one brother, Howard Smith of Farmington; one sister, Mrs. Raymond (Martha) Counts of Farmington; seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, first wife, and one brother.

The funeral will be Thursday, April 21, at 1:30 p.m. in the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington. Pastor James Rozendaal will officiate. Burial will be in the Embury Cemetery. A memorial has been established and may be left at the Hofbauer Funeral Home.
