Katie F. Laughlin

Katie F. Laughlin, daughter of James and Emma Wolf McCurdy, was born July 15, 1906 in Appanoose County, Iowa and died early Friday, Feb. 11, 1983, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield at the age of 76.

In 1931 she married Harold Laughlin. They lived for a time in South Bend, Indiana and farmed for several years near Douds. In 1939 they moved to the Batavia Community, where they lived on a farm until moving to Fairfield in 1977.

Remaining are her husband, Harold, a resident of Parkview Care Center in Fairfield, their son, Harold Jr. and his wife, Juanita, of Downers Grove, Ill., their daughter, Mary Elizabeth Lane and her husband, George, of San Antonio, Texas, and four grandchildren, Brian and Cynthia Laughlin and Russell and Spencer Lane. Also surviving are three brothers, Troy McCurdy, Walnut Creek, Calif., Harold McCurdy, Saratoga, Ca., and William McCurdy, Foster City, Ca., other relatives and friends.

Her parents, a brother, Leo McCurdy, a sister, Minnie Gire, and an infant daughter, Marie Elaine, preceded her in death.

Katie who was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fairfield, the Cross Lanes Club, and the Literary Guild will be remembered as a good citizen and a friend, as well as a devoted wife and mother.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 14, 1983 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with rev. Carl Riggs of her church officiating. Interment was in Mount Moriah Cemetery, north of Douds.
