Kenneth C. Hawk

Kenneth C. Hawk, son of Henry and Anna Bates Hawk, was born Feb. 28, 1901 at Winchester, Iowa and departed this life Friday, Jan. 14, 1983 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 81. He married Fay Roby of Troy, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Ralph and Ray and a sister, Gayle.

Remaining are a nephew, Wesley Bates Hawk and his wife, Roslee of Lake Worth Florida, other relatives and many friends.

Most of Kenneth's life was spent in the Bonaparte community. He had recently moved to Farmington. He was a retired farmer and antique dealer and an avid horseman throughout his life.

He will be remembered as a generous benefactor to the Bonaparte community, having donated the land for the Senior Citizens Housing Complex as well as land for expansion of the cemetery.

He lovingly cared for his invalid wife for many years, was ready to lend a hand to anyone in need and over the period of his life was active in community affairs.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 18, 1983 at 1:30 p.m. in the Bonaparte Presbyterian Church, with Rev. James Rozendaal officiating. Interment was in the Bonaparte Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
