Glen Salter

Glen Salter, son of John and Lillie Carter Salter, was born April 20, 1917, at his present home in Douds, and died Saturday, march 12, 1983 at home at the age of 65.

Glen attended school in Douds and was a self-employed carpenter and plumber. He also, along with is brother Bennie, raised and sold produce for several years. He was a member of the Starlight Lodge No. 350 Knights of Pythius of Douds, Iowa.

Remaining are three sisters: Lal Kaleff and Florence Hartsell of Douds and Ruth Hartsell of Westland, Mich.; four brothers, Ted and Bennie of Douds, Fred of Montrose, Iowa and Carl of Port Charlotte, Florida; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Asa, and a half-brother, Kelsey Salter.

Glen, better known as "Carbid" will be remembered as a real friend to all and enjoyed doing things for them. He was proud of his gardens and generously shared the harvest with others. He especially liked being around young people.

Services were held Tuesday, March 15, 1983 at 11:00 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, Iowa with Revs. Harold Harryman and Chris Daniel officiating. Interment was in Leando Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital.
