Rosa Kunzman

Rosa Kunzman, daughter of Jacob and Barbara Hahn, was born April 12, 1899 in Dettingen-Teck, West Germany, and died early Sunday, Feb. 6, 1983, at River Hills Care Center in Ottumwa at the age of 83.

She graduated from high school and nurse's training in Germany. In December, 1924, she came to the United States and married John J. Kunzman of Douds. They resided on a farm near Douds where she continued to live until moving to Ottumwa in 1972.

Mr. Kunzman died in 1958. A son, Russell and a stepson, Walter, also preceded her in death. She was the last of a family of seven children. Remaining are three daughters, Helen Carroll of Ottumwa, Catherine Saylor of Blakesburg and Pauline Benson of Arvada, Colorado. Also surviving are two stepsons, Carl Kunzman of Selma and John Lester Kunzman of Ottumwa, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Kunzman was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple.

She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 1983 at 1:30 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with Dr. Christ Daniel officiating. Interment was in Leando Cemetery. A memorial was established for her church.
