BERTHA M. KOFSKE

Bertha Mabel Kofske, daughter of Edgar and Adeline Blinkley Spencer, was born August 5, 1884 in Calhoun County, Iowa and departed this life Wednesday, February 2, 1983 at Manor House Nursing Home in Sigourney at the age of 98.

The family moved to Cantril in 1918. She married Otto Kofske who preceded her in death.

Survivors are a brother, Earl Spencer of the Manor House in Sigourney; a sister, Letha McSwain of Inglewood, California; and two nephews, Virgil McSwan of Des Moines and George McSwain of Fresno, California. Also surviving are five great nephews, James, Robert, Mike, Paul and Roy McSwain; two great nieces, Carol Fretz and Patricia Shook. Mrs. Kofske was a long-time member of the Cantril United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Monday, Febraury 7, 1983, at 11 a.m. at the Cantril United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Butler officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril, Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, was in charge of arrangements.
