Richard Himes

Richard D. Himes, son of George and Iva Himes, was born Dec. 25, 1934 at Coal City, Iowa and departed this life Friday, Dec. 31, 1982, at University Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 48.

On July 27, 1957, he married Carolyn House at Milton. She remains with their daughter, Peggy Chambers and her husband Jim, three sons, Rick and his wife Debbie, Gerald and Jeff all of Keosauqua. Also surviving are two grandchildren, a brother, Dave of Mechanicsville, a sister, Ann Stogdill of Mission, Texas, his stepmother, Dolly Himes, several step brothers and sisters, other relatives and friends.

Dick had lived in Davis County and the past 20 years in Keosauqua. He had been a heavy equipment operator for Van Buren Highway Department and served in the United States Army from September, 1954 until August, 1956. His home and family were his primary interests.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 3, 1983 at 1:30 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Interment with military rites in charge of Beer-Barker Post, American Legion, was in Fellos Cemetery. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
