BURCH B. BOLEY

Burch B. Boley, son of Sylvester and Luella Brown Boley, was born February 24, 1893 near Hillsboro and departed this life early Tuesday, November 9, 1982, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 89.

On November 17, 1923, he married Lela Brown. She died in 1924. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Glenn and Bruce and four sisters, Zoe and Flossie and two infant sisters.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Paul Ruby of Ottumwa and Mrs. Rex Miller of Bonaparte, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Burch moved to his present farm home west of Hillsboro at the age of two years and had resided there ever since. He was a long-time member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War I, was a charter member and Past Commander of Richard Hoaglin Post No. 610, American Legion of Hillsboro and a member of the Forty and Eight at Mt. Pleasant. For many years he served as Chaplain of the Van Buren County American Legion.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 11, 1982, at 3 p.m. in the Hillsboro Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Buchanan, pastor, officiating. Interment with military rites was in Hillsboro Cemetery. Pedrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials were established for the Hillsboro Baptist Church and the Hillsboro American Legion Post.
