MYRTLE E. METCALF

Myrtle E. Metcalf, daughter of James and Bessie Oliver Tweedy, was born March 26, 1908, near Libertyville, and departed this life Monday, September 13, 1982, at Burlington Medical Center in Burlington at the age of 74.

On April 6, 1932, she married Roy D. Metcalf in Fairfield. They Lived in Elmwood, Illinois. Mr. Metcalf preceded her in death in 1947.

Surviving are her daughter, Evelyn Powell and her husband, Elbert, of Burlington; two granddaughters, Kathy and Tammy Powell; a brother, Ernest Tweedy of Des Moines; a sister, Velma Brazille of Tulsa, Oklahoma and other relatives and friends. Two sisters, Edith Edgerly and Florence Tweedy preceded her in death.

Myrtle lived a number of years in Mr. Pleasant, where she was employed at the Mental Health Institute. She later lived in Burlington, and moved to Eldon in 1978. She was a member of the Libertyville Church of the Brethren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 16, 1982, at 2:30 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with Rev. George Edgerly officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield. A memorial has been established for the Dr. B.J. Ajaikumar Cancer Center at Burlington Medical Center.
