TORRENCE SCOTTEN

Torrence "Snowball" Scotten, 76, of Bonaparte, died Sunday at 9:50 a.m. at his home in Bonaparte.

Born September 2, 1906 at Mt. Sterling, Iowa, he was the son of James and Rosie Grubs Scotten.

He married Sheryl Hamberg in September of 1935. She died September 5, 1970. He later married Lucille Haynes of Bonaparte on October 16, 1971.

He was retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad.

Surviving are his wife Lucille of Bonaparte; one son, James E. Scotten of Los Angeles, California; two stepsons John Haynes of Bonaparte and Jesse Haynes of Hillsboro; one step-daughter Betty Bell of Fairfield; one brother, Ernest Scotten of Fort Madison; one sister, Minnie Webb of Ottumwa; four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife, one brother and three sisters.

The funeral will be Thursday, November 18, at 10 a.m. in the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington. The Rev. Jim Rozendaal will officiate. Burial will be in the Harness Cemetery at Mt. Sterling.
