Wilda F. Booth

Wilda F. Booth, 58, longtime employee at the J.O. J.C.) Penney store in Fairfield, died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson County Hospital. Her death followed an illness of approximately one year.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Wilda F. Booth was born July 18, 1924, in Van Buren County. She was the daughter of Crawford H. and Emma Peplow Skaggs. Her marriage to William "Bud" Booth took place January 7, 1945. He survives.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and had been employed at the Penney store for 18 years prior to her illness.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Booth is survived by one son, Steve, Fairfield; three daughters, Shirley Brown, Patricia and Marilyn Booth, all of Fairfield.

Also surviving are her mother, Emma Skaggs, Birmingham; five grandchildren; four brothers, Lyle and Jim Skaggs both of Fairfield, and Howard and Wilson Skaggs both of Birmingham; two sisters, Kathrine Pfeifer and Dora McWhirter both of Birmingham.

Mrs. Booth was preceded in death by her father and one sister.
