Robert W. Talbott

Robert Wesley Talbott, son of Charles and Edith Locke Talbott, was born July 14, 1922 near Douds and departed this life Friday, July 9, 1982 at his home in Douds at the age of 59.

he lived his life in the Douds community, graduating from the local high school with the class of 1941.

On August 4, 1945, he married Alice Parrott in El Paso, Texas. She remains to cherish his memory with their son, Ronald, Bolingbrook, Ill.; and three daughters, Sara Bertsch, Saline, Michigan; Linda Peacock, Lancaster, Calif.; and Barbara Hesseltine, Wayland, Ia. Also surviving are Bob's father and step mother, Charles and Sarah Talbott of Eldon, a brother, Roscoe, stepbrothers Floyd and Stanley Laughlin; stepsisters Frances Leasure, Esther Crow and Mabel Lunsford, six grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Bob was a long-time employee of John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring as an inspector April 1, 1982. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II, was a member of the Douds Community Club and Fire Department, and will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a skilled workman, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 12, 1982 at 11 A.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with Rev. Harold Harryman and Rev. Donald Baker officiating. Interment was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.
