Irene Armstrong

Irene Armstrong, daughter of Charles and Hattie Arnold Davidson, was born September 7, 1901 at Keosauqua and departed this life Friday, July 2, 1982 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, where she had resided since 1977, at the age of 80.

On January 20, 1923, she married Craig "Johnny" Armstrong. He passed away in 1967. An infant son and two sisters also preceded her in death. Remaining to cherish her memory are four daughters, Wilma Steele and Kathleen Pearson, both of Phoenix, Arizona; Marsha Boyle of Fountain Valley, California; and Florence Rankin, New London. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, a brother, Chancie E. (Davidaon) of Des Moines, a sister, Virgie Wright of East Moline, Ill., other relatives and friends.

Irene was a member of the Keosauqua United Methodist and its United Methodist Women and Beer-Barker Unit, American Legion Auxiliary.

She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 5, 1982 at 1 P.M. at Pedrick (Juneral) Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Louise Knupp officiating. Interment was in Purdom Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center.
