NAOMI ELIZABETH STEINMAN WILLIAMS

Naomi Elizabeth Steinman Williams departed this life on Thursday, June 17, 1982 at 11:10 a.m. at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua, Iowa after a length illness.

The oldest of 16 children, she was born to Luke and Eva Melinda Lewis Steinman on Nov. 27, 1909 at Siloam Springs in Gentry Co., Mo. She was raised in the Parnell, Mo. area. Words do not describe the daughter and sister she was to her family. She remained the uniting force of her large and scattered family until her death. Remaining to cherish her memory are six brothers: John of Parnell, Mo., Joseph Raymond of Grant City, Mo., Earl (Bill) of Clarkfield, Minn., Luke, Jr. of Carter Lake, Iowa, Melvin of Independence, Mo., and Ed of Savannah, Mo. Also remaining are four sisters: Mary Bender of Union Gap, Wash., Goldie Troutwine of Independence, M., Georgee Helen Kidney of Denver, Colo., and Pat Matthews of Las Vegas, Nev.; She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James Carl, and four sisters: Lorraine Miller, Clarabelle Partridge, Pearl Everheart and Julia Ann Steinman.

On June 15, 1931 she married Robert Joseph Williams at Maryville, Mo. She was a loving mother to one son; Joseph Charles and his wife, Jean of Glendale, Ariz. and two daughters: Wanda Lee Lynch and her husband Jim of Rio Linda, Calif. and Carol Ann Carr and her husband Carl of (douds), Iowa.

She was "Grandma" to Leonard Lynch, his wife, Jane, and their son Bradly of Elverta, alif., Ilan Williams, his wife Debbie and their daughter Amber of Phoenix, Ariz., Kristy Carr and Rob Carr of Douds, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962 and a great-granddaughter, Stacie Lee Lynch in 1980.

Her family moved from Missouri to Iowa in 1937, living most to those years in Ottumwa where she was a retired employee of the sausage Dept. at John Morrell and Co. In Ottumwa she most recently lived at Camelot towers and was a resident at Sunnyslope Care Center before moving to her home in Douds in June, 1981. She was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple Church and the John Hyson Reneker Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary at Douds.

She will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. Her happiest yeats were spent loving and doing for others, family and friends alike. She continued doing for others long after she was in poor health and was devastated when her health forced her to be on the receiving end of the help she had given so freely all her life.

May her Eternal Life be full of the Goodness and Joy she is so richly deserving of . . . forever.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 21, 1982, at 9:00 A.M. in Ottumwa Baptist Temple and at 3:00 P.M. in Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, Grant City, Mo., with Rev. A.D. Pringle officiating. Interment was in Miller Cemetery near Denver, Mo. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds. A memorial was established for the Diabetes Association.
