MARY WATTS

Mary Watts, 85, a former resident of the Birmingham community died Sept. 18, '81 at Winterset, Iowa. She had been a resident of a Nursing Home there in Winterset for the past several years.

Last rites were held Monday, Sept. 21, 1981, at 9:30 A.M. at the Watts & Lindsay Funeral Home at Lorimer (wih) burial in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham.

Mary Watts was born January 24, 1896 near Birmingham, the daughter of Amos (an) Anna Stull Watts. She was a school teacher, a registered nurse, and she later became interested in being a mortician. She was in partnership with her brother, Stanley Watts, having Funeral Homes located in Lorimer, Winterset and at Mackburg. She was never married.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Mrs. Stanley Watts; an adopted daughter and nieces & nephews.

Miss Watts was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Stanley.

The Watts family lived for a number of years on a farm south of Birmingham, now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Anderson, later moving to their home in the north part of town, now occupied by Kenneth and Doris Kirchner.

Velma Smith and Nellie Peebler, local area residents were cousins of Mary Watts.
