MABEL E. THOMPSON

Mrs. Mabel E. Thompson, 96, of Colonia Manors Rest Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa died there Monday A.M., March 16, 1981. She had been in poor health the past six months.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 18, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Gary Walker officiating. Burial was in Ainsworth Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Colonia Manors Home in Columbus Junction.

Mabel E. Means Thompson was born March 22, 1885, at Greenfield, Ohio the daughter of Charles and Lucy Marshall Means. She was reared and educated at Washington.

On February 19, 1908 she married R. Lee Thompson at Ainsworth. He died in 1960. For a time they lived in the Cantril and Mt. Sterling, Ia. area. At the death of Mr. Thomspon she moved to Ainsworth until celebrating her 90th birthday, then moved into Colonial Manors. She was a member of the Ainsworth Community Church and a former member of the Eastern Star in Ainsworth.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Reece of Manchester, Tenn.; Mrs. D.R. (Marguerite) Harbison of Hemet, Calif.; 11 grand and 32 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Charles; one granddaughter, two brothers and one sister.

She was the grandmother of Pat Carruthers Roland, Fairfield.
