MERLYN C. JEFFERS

Merlyn C. (Pete) Jeffers, 56, of Farmington died Friday, Oct. 16, at 5:45 p.m. in University Hospital, Iowa City.

He was born May 2, 1925 at Keokuk to Carl E. and Mae Meyer Jeffers.

He married Mildred Neu July 23, 1960 at Farmington. A resident of Farmington for 21 years, he was a milk distributor for Tri-State Dairy for 26 years and was school bus driver for Harmony Schools.

Mr. Jeffers was a member of the United Methodist church, was a paster master of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge No. 27, and was past patron of Mizpah chapter No. 24 Order of Eastern Star at Farmington; he was also a member of Lafayette Chapter No. 26 Royal Arch Masons of Bonaparte.

Surviving are his wife; his father and step mother, Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Jeffers of Argyle; one daughter, Mary Lynn Jeffers of Waterloo; one son, Jon C. Jeffers at home; two sisters, Mrs. William (Velma) Auwaerter of Montrose, and Mrs. Donald (Delores) Fogle of Miami, Fla.

The funeral was held Monday, October 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the United Methodist church, Farmington. The Rev. Jim Rozendall officiated. Burial was in Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington. A Masonic service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington.
