BERTHA BARNETT

Mary Bertha Barnett, a former long time resident of Memphis, Mo. died Wednesday, February 25, 1981, in the Davenport Osteopathic Hospital, Davenport, Iowa. She was 91 years, 6 months and 25 days of age. For the past 17 months she was a resident of the Masonic Nursing Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Bertha, born in Van Buren County, Iowa, was the daughter of Caroline Hopp Silver and David Silver. She lived her early years in the Cantril area, becoming a teacher in the Niles Rural School.

She married William Herbert Barnett in 1910 in van Buren County. They had one son, Marion Clark, and one daughter, Vada Faller. Throughout their more than 50 years of marriage they lived in the Cantril and Memphis area. Her husband and son are both waiting at heavens gates to welcome her to life everlasting.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mrs. William Faller of Kansas City, a daughter-in-law, Mary E. Barnett, of Cantril, four grandchildren, Robert Faller of Kansas City Mo., Wava Barnett, Cedar Rapids, Mona Schemmel of Farley, Iowa and Edna Wood, of Mantelle, Iowa; six great grandchildren, Shauna and Clark Wood, Leasha, Klista, Koren and Maria Schemmel; other relatives and friends.

Her husband, Herm, and son, Clark, preceded her in death.

Services were held Friday, Feb. 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Payne-Gerth Funeral Chapel, Memphis, Mo., Rev. Steve Million officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril, Iowa.
