EDITH M. DUVALL

Edith M. Duvall, daughter of Charles and Mary Josephine Heminger Carney, was born June 4, 1896 in Illinois and departed this life Tuesday, December 1, 1981, at Fort Madison Nursing Care Center in Fort Madison, Iowa at the age of 85.

On December 25, 1916, she married Iska Duvall at Keosauqua. They farmed in Van Buren County and lived in Keosauqua, where Mr. Duvall was a rural mail carrier. In 1934 he transferred to the Fairfield post office and the family moved there, where Mrs. Duvall lived until entering the care center in 1973.

Mr. Duvall preceded her in death in 1964. She was the last of a family of seven children, and was also preceded in death by two daughters, Helen Hendricks and Bertie Christensen and an infant son, Lewis.

Remaining to cherish her memory are two sons, Charles of Bettendorf and Gary of Pasadena, California, a daughter Mary Jo (Mrs. Vern) Peebler of Fort Madison, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Duvall was a member of First Christian Church in Fairfield.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 5, 1981, at 11 a.m. in the Keosauqua Christian Church, with Rev. Bill Kennedy of Fort Madison and Rev. Bill Bensheimer, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were Henry Kudebeh, Ronald Cochran, Leslie Hickenbottom, Bruce Hiatt, Dean Stecker, and Phil Elliott. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery at Keosauqua. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
