Violet Willcoxson

Violet A. Willcoxson, 84, Bloomfield, died March 6, 1995, at Iowa Methodist Center in Des Moines.

She was born Jan. 27, 1911 in Van Buren County to J. Cleveland and Dora Lee Bradbury Gordy. She married John S. Willcoxson July 15, 1934 in Memphis, Mo. He died Jan. 28, 1993.

She and her husband owned and operated Willcoxson Transport, where she was a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church and Reed-Whisler Post No. 78 American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by one daughter, Delpha L. Hopkins of Bloomfield; two sons, R. Dean of Hemet, Calif. and Daniel L. of Bloomfield; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mary V. Doll and Dorothy M. Dixon, both of Bloomfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Forrest, Lee, Dale and Eugene Gordy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, 1995 at the Henkenius-Priester Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Don Macy. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery.

Visitation is open after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Bloomfield Christian Church or the Bloomfield Public Library.
