AMANDA F. SPARKS

Amanda Francis [sic], daughter of Moses and Nancy Sheets, was born April 22, 1857, in Scotland county, Mo.

Here in the the rural school she received her education. She grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Fleming Martin Sparks on August 1, 1875. To this union four children were born. Nancy Viola, Rosa Lee, William Taylor and Mary Isabel. Her companion and daughters have proceded [sic] her in death.

She united with the M. E. church at the age of 33. She was a kind and loving mother, a neighbor that was ever ready to lend a helping hand.

The son, eight grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters and other relatives are left to mourn their loss.

She passed away May 5, 1925, age 68 years and 13 days, at the home of her son, ner [sic] Mt. Sterling, Iowa, where she had made her home since the death of her husband about 14 months ago.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church at Mt. Sterling Thursday afternoon, May 7, Rev. Paul Sawtelle, officiating. Interment at Blackledge cemetery.
