BERYL I. MILLER

Beryl I. Miller, daughter of George and Alice Hunter Merrick, was born February 7, 1907, in Clark County, Missouri and departed this life Wednesday, May 19, 1976, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 69.

She graduated from high school in 1926 at Kahoka, Mo., and on January 26, 1927, was married to Leo Miller at Fairfield. They farmed north of Keosauqua until retiring to town 1972.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her widower, a son, Dwight of West Branch; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Shobe of Milton and five granddaughters. Also surviving are two brothers, Charles Merrick of Sidney, Nebraska, and Edward Merrick of Luray, Mo., two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Madden of Farmington and Mrs. Anna Lee Smith of Cabool, Mo., other relatives and many friends.

Beryl was an active member the Keosauqua United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women. She was a ?st district officer of UMW, a member of the Mothers' Club, Book Club, and Delphian Study Club, all in Keosauqua, had been active in Farm Bureau Women's Work and served many years as a Sunday School Teacher and 4-H leader.

She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, whose interests encompassed the entire community as she labored to make it a better place in which to live.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 22, 1976, at 2 P.M. at the Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Cornish, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home. A memorial was established to her church.
