MERTENS, HYDE, BARTLETT, WALLINS, COCHRAN, STANFORD

Friends have received word of the death Zoe Hyde Mertens on Jan. 23 at Gulfport, Miss. where she was making her home with her daughter, Teresa Bartlett. Mrs. Mertens attended school in Milton and continued her studies to become a registered nurse. She was worn(err) April 19, 1907, and married Alger Mertens, who owned and operated a gas station in Ft. Madison for 42 years before his death. Since his death she made her home with her two daughters, Mrs. Bartlett and Monica Wallins of Davenport. Funeral and burial were in Ft. Madison. In addition to the daughters she is survived by a brother, Glen Hyde of Memphis, two sisters, Frankie Cochran and Phoebe Stanford of Marion, Iowa.
