Alva Magill

CANTRIL - Alva T. Magill, 74, a former Cantril and Bloomfield resident, died Wednesday at Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville.

He was born Oct. 26, 1913, in Riverdale, Neb., to Alva B. and Lavia Belle Fish Magill. He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1934 to 1938. He was a retired farmer and formerly owned a flower shop in Bloomfield. He managed the state liquor store in Bloomfield and owned and operated a feed store in Milton. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Milton and the Eagles Club in Bloomfield. He married Edna Merrit Sept. 26, 1941, in Kirksville, Mo.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mary Lynn of Riverside, Calif., two sons, Douglas of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Marvin of Monterey, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Simmons of Riverside, Calif.

The service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Priester Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield, the Revs. Andrew Rubenking and Ellis Andres officiating. Burial with masonic rites will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton. The casket will remain closed.

Visitation is open

Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Cemetery Association or the Cantril Library.
