Jesse L. Kirkhart

Jesse L. Kirkhart, son of Roy and Effie Daniels Kirkhart, was born June 2, 1912 near Cantril and died the morning of Wednesday, May 9, 1984, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 71. He had a lengthy illness with cancer and strokes.

On May 4, 1935 he married Zola Brewer. She remains with their son, Ronald and his wife Sharon of Cantril, a grandson, Neil Kirkhart, a sister, Iola Bales and her husband, Charles of Seymour, other relatives and friends.

Jesse was a farmer all his life and his farm and home were his principal interests. With the exception of about ten years he lived his entire life on the home place, south of Cantril.

For a number of years he served as treasurer of the Van Buren County Farm Bureau.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 11, 1984 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cantril Christian Church with Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Interment was in maple Grove Cemetery at Cantril. Memorials were established for the Cantril Christian Church and the cancer fund. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, was in charge of arrangements.
