Hyde Services Held August 4

William Merritt Hyde, son of Edmond and Mary Etta Hoskins Hyde, was born October 13, 1889, and passed away August 2, 1973, at Scotland County Hospital.

On September 10, 1922, he was married to Virgil Stone at her home. To this union two daughters and two sons were born.

Merritt lived in the Hitt Community and farmed for many years before retiring to his present home in Memphis.

His parents, one son and a brother preceded him in death.

Surviving is the widow, Mrs. Hyde, two daughters and their husbands; Joetta and Burley Bertram of Mt. Sterling, Iowa, Carol and Robert Dochterman of Arbela, one son and his wife, Gary and Irene Hyde of Arbela; his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, HM 3 Peggy Dochterman of 29 Palms, California, Bonnie Sue Bertram, La Nell Hyde, Junior Bertram and Kelley Bertram, all of Mt. Sterling, Iowa, Ronnie Dochterman and Leon Hyde of Arbela; Sisters Zoe Hyde Mertens, of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Frankie Hyde Cochran and Phoebe Hyde Stanford, both of Marion, Iowa, Josephine Hyde Michalski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Esther Hyde Mustoe of Memphis; brothers, Glen Hyde of Memphis, and Lee Hyde of Bloomfield, Iowa, many nieces and nephews.

Merritt had many friends and was a good neighbor as long as health permitted.

Funeral services were conducted by D.W. Payne & Sons, Saturday, August 4, 1973, at 1:00 P.M. from their Memphis Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiating. Mrs. Nancy Harris was organist. Body bearers were Glen Bloomfield, Wesley Lay, Roy Bullock, Lloyd Lancaster, Joe Burrows, and Wayne Glasgow. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
