ORPHIE LEE HUMPHREY

Former Milton resident Orphie Lee Humphrey, 81, of Mount Pleasant, died at 7:15 p.m. March 5, 1991, at Burlington Medical Center in Burlington.

He was born August 20, 1909, in Milton to Sylvester "Bess" and Anna Laura Chapman Humphrey. He married Beulah Ritz on March 2, 1933, in Lancaster, Mo.

He was a self-employed carpenter in the Milton area until moving to Mount Pleasant in 1989. He was a member of Cantril Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Carl of Joliet, Ill.; two daughters, Darlene Hervey of Galena, Ill., and Louise Taylor of Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Lou; two brothers, Ray and Emrel; and two sisters, Naomi Nichols and Gladys Jones.

The service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, 1991 at the Christian Church in Cantril, the Revs. Jerry Caughron and Bob Pinkerton officiating. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Wagler Funeral Home, Bloomfield, was in charge of arrangements.
