Arthur S. Garrett

Arthur S. Garrett, 80, Bloomfield died Feb. 23, 1989, at the Davis County Hospital.

He was born Feb. 9, 1909, in Van Buren County to N.C. Emmett and Harriet Burns Garrett. He was a former member of the Russell-Strait Post of the American Legion in Milton and the Milton Christian Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in France and Germany.

He married Jessie Lucy Kittle on March 3, 1928, in Van Buren County. She died in 1961.

He is survived by five sons, William "Bud" of Memphis, Mo., N.C. Emmett "Tiny" of Eldon, and Albert, Wayne and Larry of Bloomfield; a daughter, Peggy Shepherd of Bloomfield; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Feb. 27, 1989 at the Priester Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Bartels officiating. Burial was in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton with military rites.

A memorial has been established to the Sunnyside Cemetery Association.
