Rev. G. Lolin Eaton, 96, passed away at the Aldridge Rest Home in Memphis, Missouri, at 8:00 a.m., March 23, 1973. he was born July 31, 1876, on a farm near Preston, Iowa, a son of Minerva Northrup and Michel Hutchens Eaton.

When he was 6 years old the family moved to Maquoeta, Iowa, where he grew to manhood.

He attended the Upper Iowa University.

He became a Christian Minister and his first call was to the Christian Church in Packwood, Iowa. Rev. Eaton was minister of the First Christian Church in Memphis, Missouri, for eight years and retired as minister emetrius. He was also a honorary member of the V.F.W. Post No. 4958 and delivered the first Memorial Day address after World War II and assisted in each Memorial Day Service thereafter until the last three years when his health would not permit.

On May 11, 1898, he was united in marriage to his boyhood sweetheart, Millacent Russell, at Preston, Iowa.

Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Mankopf, and her husband, Bert, of Memphis; one granddaughter, Mary Jane Merritt of Merritt Island, Florida; one grandson, Oscar Eaton Mankopf of Memphis, Missouri; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away August 20, 1949, his parents, and eight sisters and brothers.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 25, at 1:30 p.m., in the Christian Church, Memphis, Missouri, with the Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiating, assisted by Len Camp. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery. Members of the V.F. W. Post 4958 were body bearers.
