Gladys Goldie Darnell

Gladys Goldie Darnell, the daughter of James and Rosa Kennedy Knott, was born Mar. 28, 1895 in Davis County and died Feb. 14, 1971 at Silver Haven in Bloomfield.

She married Irvin Darnell on Apr. 28, 1915 at Troy. To this union three sons and two daughters were born.

She lived all her life in the Troy and Milton area. She and her husband moved to Milton in 1940 and operated a store for several years. Since April, 1967 they have resided at Silver Haven.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

Surviving are her husband, Irvin; three sons, Cyril Dean and James Kenneth of Burlington and Lowell Francis of Ames; two daughters, Vivian Lanore Matthews of Pulaski and Evelyn Jean Price of Keokuk; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Grace Knott of Bloomfield.

Funeral services were held Feb. 17, 1971 at the Grace United Methodist Church at Milton conducted by the Rev. Herbert E. Phillips. Interment was in the Sunnyside Cemetery. The Wellborn Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
