Milton Man Fatally Injured By Auto
Verni Conner, 76, of Milton was killed Thursday, Sept. 12, when he was struck by a car as he walked across Highway 2, in front of his home, in Milton.
Authorities said the car, driven by Leland A. Greene, 45, of Boontown, N.J., skidded about 160 feet before striking Conner and carried the victim about 20 feet before comin to a halt.
Services for Mr. Conner were held Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Milton Christian Church, with the Rev. James McKean officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Verni Aaron Conner was born Feb. 11, 1894, the son of Aaron and Mary Hubbard Conner. He married Hattie Smith who died in 1918. In 1943, he married Emma Paris, who survives and is a patient in the Si?ver Haven Nursing Home in Bloomfield. He was a member of the Milton Christian Church, the K.P. Lodge and had spent most of his life in Milton.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Yonna Hudson of Milton; two step-children, Henry Paris of Milton and Mrs. Helen Hull of Denver; two brothers, Karl Conner of Milton, Ralph Conner of Tacoma, Wash. and 11 grandchildren.
