Clarinda Journal (Clarinda, Iowa), Friday, February 26, 1897

William Craig, an uncle of W. B. Craig of this city, died the 5th inst, near Kilbourne, Ia., age 88 years, 2 months and 27 days. He was born in County Down, Ireland, Nov. 8, 1808, leaving his native land at the age of 19 years, coming to the United States and settling in Ohio.

About the year 1839 or 1840 he removed to Van Buren county, Ia. In 1844 he married Phoebe Kennedy. The wife died in 1849. Three children were born of the union, one of whom, John, survives. He died a member of the United Presbyterian church, of which he had long been a member and before that was a member of the Seceder church. Even in his old age he was so well and hearty that in late years he had often walked eight miles to attend church. The deceased was known by a number of Clarinda people.
